Student Covenant

Trinity requires all incoming students to sign a covenant to establish guidelines for the community in which all students live, work, study, and play.

Covenant for Community Life

As a community redeemed by the grace of God it is important that the virtues of love, respect, and stewardship are promoted. Therefore, members of the Trinity Lutheran College community are called to be loving and caring in their relationships and good stewards of time, energy, and resources.

As part of our commitment to a distinctive lifestyle and experience, this covenant, entered into by each community member, is foundational to the policies and procedures of the College and shapes Trinity’s community. It is designed to foster Christian faith, self-understanding, personal responsibility, and community involvement. It encourages critical thinking in an environment of openness, freedom of expression, and respect for one another. It applies while a community member is on campus, involved in College activities, representing the College or otherwise acting in a manner that reflects adversely on the College.

This community recognizes the rights and needs of individuals. The standards that limit individual expression are kept to a minimum. However, some standards are essential to the development of vital and healthy relationships for all in the community. Therefore, breaching this covenant is a serious matter. The standards listed in the following sections are not exhaustive (see the Student Handbook for detailed community guidelines) but are intended to identify the kinds of behaviors that may result in disciplinary action.
